Criminal proceedings against Rafi Rotem - fraud against all of us - we must not let it pass!

OccupyTLV, on May 26, criminal proceedings are scheduled to continued in the Tel Aviv Magistrate Court against Rafi Rotem - the Tax Authority Whistle-blower. Rafi Rotem is fraudulently charged with insulting public officers - policemen and other law enforcement persons, who have been abusing him for 12 years and refuse to investigate his allegations.

The indictment opens with the following words:

"The Defendant is former employee of the "Tax Authority", and was employed by the Tax Authority as an Intelligence Officer. In the years 2003-2004, the Defendant investigated an affair and claimed to have exposed "corruption in the Tax Authority". But on July 12, 2004, the case against those involved was closed by then Tel Aviv District State Prosecutor Attorney Ruth David, for Lack of Evidence and lack of guilt".

In contrast, former Attorney General Manny Mezouz said of the Rafi Rotem affair "the only affair, where one can use such terms [organized crime in high places] and therefore it... is the worst corruption scandal, is the Tax Authority scandal."

The criminal proceedings against Rafi Rotem are part of ongoing abuse by the Israeli justice systme against Rafi Rotem and against all residents of the State of Israel.

Those, who take part in such abuse include the following:

* Israel Police - which engages in retaliation and false detentions against Rotem for years.

* Tel Aviv District State Prosecution - which refused to investigate the Rotem's evidence of corruption, and has orchestrated previous and current retaliation measures against him.

* The Courts - from Judge Vardah Samet in the Tel Aviv Labor Court and to Supreme Court Justices Edmond Levy, Ednah Arbel, Uzi Vogelman, who engaged in fraud and obstruction of justice against Rafi Rotem and all residents of the State of Israel, and issued false and fraudulent, void not voidable judgments against him.

* State Ombudsmen - Eliezer Goldberg, Michah Lindenstraus, Yosef Shapira, who expressed in public conferences their opinion that Rotme honestly acted to expose public corruption in the Tax Authority, but continue to refuse to accord him Equal Protection under the Law.

* Attorney General Yehudah Weinstein - who permits the ongoing abuse of a whistle-blower, under the guise of law enforcement.

We, the undersigned, call upon Amnesty and and other international Human Rights organizations to place observers in the Tel Aviv Magistrate Court in a case that may end in the confinement of a Political Prisoner.

We, the undersigned, also call upon all parties in the Israeli political system, Members of Knesset, Minister of Justice, Attorney General, Judges, Ombudsman, to put an end to this farce, which will be remembered as the scarlet letter of the Israeli justice system.

We, the undersigned, residents of the State of Israel, shall not let this unprecedented fraud by the justice system pass! We shall not let corrupt authorities silence Rafi Rotem!

This is a fight for the essence of the justice system in Israel!
