הפסטיבל הבינלאומי לקולנוע גאה נלחם על חייו - אנא חתמו והפיצו!

העצומה נפתחה לראשונה ב 29/11/2011 כאשר מועצת הקולנוע ניסתה לראשונה לסגור את פסטיבל הקולנוע הגאה, חזרנו אל העצומה בסוף אוגוסט 2012 מאחר ומועצת הקולנוע מנסה בשנית לסגור את פסטיבל הקולנוע הגאה. _פחות משנה אחת חלפה ומועצת הקולנוע מנסה להעביר בשנית שינוי בקריטריון התמיכה בפסטיבלים ולתמוך מעתה רק בפסטיבלים שיציגו תקציב של יותר מחצי מיליון ש"ח – שינוי זה עתיד לפגוע אנושות בפסטיבל הקולנוע הגאה של תל אביב, או TLVFest כפי שהוא מוכר ברחבי העולם. הפסטיבל הבינלאומי לקולנוע גאה, שהפך תוך שנים ספורות לאחד האירועים הקולנועיים הבולטים בישראל, חגג 7 שנים ביוני 2012. במהלך שמונת ימי הפסטיבל נכחו בו כ-10,000 צופים, הוקרנו בו יותר מ-150 סרטים ארוכים וקצרים ב-76 מסגרות שונות, התארחו בו יותר מ-30 יוצרי קולנוע ומנהלי פסטיבלים מחו"ל, בין היתר מיפן, אינדונזיה, טורקיה, ספרד, פורטוגל, דנמרק, אנגליה, צרפת, גרמניה, אנגליה וארה"ב. הפסטיבל מציג יותר מ-30 אחוז יצירה ישראלית, ומארח פאנל שופטים בינלאומי מקצועי ומכובד. עתה עומד הפסטיבל בסכנת סגירה ממשית._ יאיר הוכנר, מנהל הפסטיבל: "הקריטריון היחיד שמונע מאיתנו מלקבל את תמיכת מועצת הקולנוע היא שהתקציב של הפסטיבל עומד על 430 אלף ש"ח, ולא מעל חצי מיליון. התיקון הזה אבסורדי, ונוצר כדי לתמוך בפסטיבלים שבין כה וכה זוכים לתמיכה הרחבה ביותר, וימחק את הקטנים יותר, הנועזים יותר, האמיצים יותר. הפסטיבל שלנו עומד בחלקו בקריטריונים של פסטיבל גדול, למרות שקיומו הוא מלחמה תקציבית על בסיס קבוע. מבחינת כמות האורחים, מבחינת ההתעניינות העצומה מפסטיבלים בחו"ל, מבחינת כמות הבכורות הבינלאומיות ולמרות זאת חברות אלכוהול, רשתות אופנה ועוד מסרבים לשתף איתנו פעולה מחשש להיות מזוהים עם הקהילה, אבל אנחנו לא מוותרים, מתעקשים – ומצליחים – להביא לתל אביב ובשנת 2012 לראשונה גם לראש פינה, קולנוע גאה איכותי מרחבי העולם". _ממשלת ישראל טוענת בכל הזדמנות שהיא פלורליסטית כלפי הקהילה הגאה. זו ההזדמנות להראות זאת. אם הקריטריונים הבעייתים יאושרו, התוצאה תהיה הפוכה ותוכיח שהממשלה שהצביעה רק השנה נגד נישואים אזרחים גאים והתנגדה לחוק שאוסר הפליה במקומות עבודה על רקע מיני זאת אותה ממשלה תסגור את הפסטיבל הבינלאומי לקולנוע גאה.  _ אתם/ן גם מוזמנים/ות לכתוב לשרת התרבות והספורט לימור לבנת בנושא: [email protected] [email protected] ולדוברת שלה אור דורון: [email protected]

The existence of TLVFest – the Tel Aviv International LBGT Film Festival – is threatened. We need your help.The Israeli film council is trying for the second time in less than a year to shut down TLVFest – The Tel Aviv international LGBT film festival, by initiating new rules that prohibit financial support of festivals with budgets less than 500,000 NIS.

Some background on the festival history and success:

In just seven years, TLVFest has become one of the most important and critcally received film festivals in Israel and Europe. Last year’s festival, held over eight days, showed over 150 features and short films in 76 different programs, and welcomed 30 guest filmmakers from all over the world (Indonesia, Japan, Turkey, Denmark, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Germany, France, UK and USA). In addition, 30 percent of the festival’s content was composed of new Israeli cinema; much of this is made possible thanks to the festival’s special competitions and initiatives to support Israeli filmmakers.

The Isreali Film Council has proposed, for the first time, to change its film festival funding criteria to only support festivals with budgets of NIS 500,000. The budget for last year’s TLVFest was NIS 430,000.

”Why limit the support for the benefit of the 3 biggest Israeli film festivals, which have countless contributors and strong finances as it is,” says Yair Hochner, TLVFest’s founder and director. “This new law will completely eliminate TLVFest, and many other small, underground, and more daring festivals, and hurt the communities who desperately need them.”

“TLVFest provides critical annual support to LBGT filmmakers across the globe – including an annual Israeli short film contest, a film pitching contest, and competitions for best international feature, documentary feature and international short.”

Nonetheless, our festival fights for its life on a yearly basis. We face extreme difficulty in finding corporate sponsorship – due to a fear to be connected to the gay community. To simply exist, we rely completely on the money we receive from the Israeli film council. This is why we can’t afford to lose this fight. We need to send a message that we are here to stay, and to give the LGBT community in Israel the cultural oasis so desperately needed.

The Israeli government continues to claim that they support a pluralistic gay community. This is their chance to show it. If the Film Council approves this unfair new funding criteria, they are voting against diversity. The political situation in Israel for the LBGT community is also dire – just this year the Israeli government voted against marriage for gay citizens and objected to the law that prohibits discrimination in employment on the basis of sex and gender. The same government official who is responsible for these new laws – Ms. Limor Livnat – Culture and Sport Minister, is also threatening the existence of TLVFest.

Please write an email to Ms. Livnat, her spokesperson, Ms. Or Doron, and the Head of the Israel Film Council, Mr. David Alexander, and ask them to support our film festival and prevent the Israeli Film Council from discontinuing our festival funding.
