אנחנו יהודי התפוצות, מרגישים צורך להשפיע על מהותה של מדינת ישראל ולהצביע בבחירות.

המצב בישראל כיום שרק אזרחים ישראלים רשאים להצביע ואין דרישה מינימלית של תקופת מגורים ואין אפשרות (מלבד אותן אוכלוסיות מיוחדות: כמו חיילים שבמסגרת תפקידם הם בחו"ל) להצביע מחוץ לארץ. אבל למשל עולה חדש שמקבל אזרחות באופן מידי, זכאי להשתתף בבחירות גם אם הוא נמצא בישראל שבוע ימים בלבד. לעומתו, אזרח ותיק (שיש לו זיקה רבה יותר למדינה והוא משלם מסים באופן קבוע) השוהה מחוץ לישראל במסגרת לימודים, עבודה, עזרה הומניטרית בין-לאומית או אפילו טיול, הוא משולל אפשרות להצביע. בניגוד להגבלות האחרות על הצבעה השוללות את זכות ההצבעה מנתח זעיר של האוכלוסייה, במקרה זה מדובר בשיעור ניכר של אזרחים.
