הסטודנטים של הבינתחומי דורשים להחזיר את הקמבוס!

המרכז הבינתחומי הרצליה מונה מעל 7000 סטודנטים העושים את דרכם מדי יום לקמפוס בעזרת אמצעי התחבורה השונים. מתוכם, 6-7%[1] בוחרים להגיע לקמפוס באמצעות רכבת ישראל.

שירות ה"קמבוס" הינו שירות שאטלים המחבר בין תחנת רכבת הרצליה לבין המרכז הבינתחומי. השירות מופעל על ידי אגודת הסטודנטים ובמימון משותף של רכבת ישראל והמרכז הבינתחומי. השירות הוא תולדה של צורך שעלה מהסטודנטים שאינם יכלו להסתמך על התחבורה הציבורית מתחנת הרכבת, שכן היא אינה מותאמת לשעות השיעורים וסובלת מאיחורים רבים. השירות פעיל במשך כל השנה ומותאם לימי הסמסטרים ולתקופות המבחנים. שעות יציאת השאטלים סמוכות לזמני כניסת ויציאת הרכבות מהתחנה ומפורסמות באתר האגודה ובפלטפורמות נוספות.

הקמבוס היווה עורק תחבורה מרכזי עבור סטודנטים רבים אשר גרים בצפון ובדרום הארץ, ומשתמשים במערך הרכבות של רכבת ישראל. הקמבוס אפשר לסטודנטים ללמוד ולהמשיך לגור בביתם, מבלי ששיגרת חייהם תיפגע. הקמבוס מותאם ללוחות הזמנים של הרכבות ולמערכת השעות של המרכז הבינתחומי. בשנת 2018 בוצעו בשאטל מעל ל-37 אלף נסיעות.[2]

לאחרונה, ובצורה חד צדדית החליטה רכבת ישראל להפסיק את המימון לפרויקט. החלטה זו הפתיעה את כל השותפים לפרויקט, וגרמה להפסקתו של השאטל בתחילת סמסטר ב'. כתוצאה נשארו סטודנטים רבים ללא מענה תחבורתי הולם להגעה לקמפוס מתחנת הרכבת בהרצליה. אנו, הסטודנטים במרכז הבינתחומי לא יכולים להישאר אדישים לאור גזרה זו של רכבת ישראל! אנו דורשים להחזיר את הקמבוס לאלתר!

Over 7000 students make their way to the Interdisciplinary Center of Herzliya using various forms of transport. [1]Of these students, 6-7% choose "Israel-Railways" as their preferred form of transport.

The "Cambus" is a complementary shuttle service connecting students between Herzilya Railway Station to the IDC.This service is organized by the IDC Student's Union and co-funded by Israel-Railways and the IDC.

The shuttle service was created to answer the increasing need of students to commute to and from campus, as they could not rely on regularly offered public transportation which does not line up with lectures' times and often suffers from delays.

The shuttle service operates through the entire academic year and is adapted to the daily academic schedule including exam periods.

The "Cambus" departure times are close to train departure and arrival times, and are always posted on the Students' Union website as well as on other platforms.

The "Cambus" has been a major form of transport for many students living in the northern and southern parts of the country and commute with Israel-Railways. The "Cambus" helped students to study while keep living where they do without any disruption to their daily routine.

In 2018 the "Cambus" operation had over 37,000 departures. [2]

Recently and unilaterally, Israel-Railways have decided to stop its share of the funding of the "Cambus" project. This decision caught all of its partners by surprise and caused the discontinuation of the shuttle services.

As a result, many students were left without any proper means of transportation between the Herzilya Railway Station and the IDC campus.

We, the IDC students cannot stand still in light of this ruling made by Israel-Railways. We call for immediate renewal of the "Cambus" services!
