בית שמש נגד עידוד השתמטות מצה

לראש העיר בית שמש, מר שמואל גרינברג

לאחרונה פורסם כי המשנה לראש העיר בית שמש, שלמה ברילנט מונה על ידי עסקני דגל התורה לסייע לבחורי ישיבה לא להתגייס לצה"ל.

אנו, תושבי בית שמש, מוחים על כך שאדם הנמצא בתפקיד ממלכתי, בעיר בה מתגוררים תושבים מכלל המגזרים ואשר שכלה 16 מבניה במלחמה, עוסק בסיוע לעריקות.

בכך הוא פוגע קשות באלפי לוחמים תושבי העיר, בסדיר ובמילואים, אשר הוא לכאורה אמור לפעול למענם בתפקידו כחבר מועצת העיר וכממונה על מינהל הרווחה והשירותים החברתיים.

אנו מצפים מחבר מועצת עיר לגלות רגישות כלפי עשרות אלפי תושבי העיר השולחים את בניהם לשדה הקרב, וכלפי עשרות משפחות אשר לא עלינו בניהם נפצעו או נהרגו בהגנה על עם ישראל.

אנחנו המומים ומתביישים בכך ששוב בית שמש עולה לכותרות בהקשר קיצוני המנוגד לחוקי המדינה ומנוגד גם לתורת ישראל המחייבת גיוס למלחמת מצוה והצלת ישראל מיד צר.

לא ראוי שנבחר ציבור יעסוק בסיוע להשתמטות, ודאי לא בשעה בה תושבי עירו מתאבלים על יקיריהם אשר נפלו במלחמה.

אנחנו מבקשים מראש העיר, שהוא ראש עיר של כלל המגזרים בעיר, לגלות מנהיגות ולקרא את מר ברילנט לסדר ולהבהיר לו כי עסקנות מהסוג הזה אין מקומה בקרב נציגי עיריית בית שמש.

It was recently announced that the Deputy Mayor Beit Shemesh, Shlomo Brillant, was appointed by Degel Hatorah activists to help yeshiva candidates avoid enlisting in the IDF.

We, the residents of Beit Shemesh, protest that a person in a state position, in a city where residents from all sectors live and which has lost 16 of its sons in the war, is involved in aiding draft- dodging.

In doing so, he is severely harming thousands of city residents, both regular and reserve, for whom he is supposedly supposed helping in his capacity as a member of the City Council and in charge of the Welfare and Social Services.

We expect a member of the City Council to show sensitivity towards the tens of thousands of city residents who send their sons to the battlefield, and towards the dozens of families whose sons were killed or injured in the defense of the Am Yisrael.

We are shocked and ashamed that Beit Shemesh is once again making headlines in an extreme context that is contrary to the laws of the state and also contrary to the Torah of Israel, which requires enlistment for a Milchemet Mitzvah and the security and survival of Israel. It is not appropriate for an elected official to engage in assisting evasion, certainly not at a time when the residents of his city are mourning their loved ones who fell in the war.

We ask the mayor, who is the mayor of all sectors in the city, to show leadership and call Mr. Brillant to order and make it clear to him that this type of activity has no place among representatives of the Beit Shemesh municipality.
