רוצות קורס מגדר במרכז שלם

לכבוד הנהלת מרכז שלם, פרופסור ראס רוברטס ופרופסור ליאון קאס,

אנחנו, סטודנטים וסטודנטיות בשלם, רוצות להוסיף קורס בנושא מגדר ופמיניזם במסגרת החוג ללימודים הומניסטיים במרכז שלם. חשוב לנו שהקורס היה תחת הדיסציפלונה של לימודים הומניסטים כיוון שאנחנו רוצים שכלל הסטודנטים והסטודנטיות יוכלו להשתתף בו.

מרכז שלם שואף להיות מוסד אקדמי מצטיין, הדומה לקולג'ים אמריקאיים של האייבי ליג. הוא שואף לתת לבוגריו את הקוריקולום של תרבות המערב, את עמודי היסוד של העולם המערבי.

לתפיסתנו, ההגות המגדרית מציעה שיטה חשובה ובסיסית לניתוח של העולם שאנו חיות בו, ולכן ראוי להציע את האפשרות ללמוד את התיאוריות הללו במוסד זה.

Dear Shalem administration, Professor Russ Roberts, and Professor Leon Kass,

We, students of Shalem, request the addition of a course in Gender Studies and Feminism to the department of Humanistic studies at Shalem. It is important to us that the course be offered under the discipline of Humanistic studies, so that all students at Shalem may be able to participate in said course.

The Shalem College strives towards excellence as an academic institution, in the vein of the American Ivy League schools. It aspires to provide its alumni the curriculum of the Western tradition, the cultural foundations of the West. As we see it, the insights of the field of Gender Studies offer an important and foundational system of analyzing the world in which we live; as such, it is crucial that the study of these theories be offered to all students at this institution.
