להוריד את העלות של ויתור על אזרחות אמריקאית

אנו, תושבי ישראל בעלי אזרחות כפולה ישראלית-אמריקאית, קוראים לממשל בארה"ב לאפשר לכל אדם בין אם עני או עשיר, את הזכות הבסיסית לוותר על אזרחותו. 

האגרה כיום לויתור על אזרחות הינה 2350 דולר.

סכום זה לא כולל את עלויות רואה החשבון אשר נדרש לבצע פעולות שונות הקשורות לויתור. 

השכר החציוני במשק בישראל עומד כיום על כ-2300 דולר.

לא ייתכן, שאזרחים המשתכרים סביב 8000 ש"ח בחודש ייאלצו לוותר על כל משכורתם החודשית ויותר, רק עבור הליך פרוצדורלי שאיננו כרוך מבחינת ארה"ב בעבודה או בהוצאות שאפילו מתקרבות לסכום הנ"ל.

כדי לסבר את האוזן, עלות הויתור על אזרחות ישראלית הינה 350 ש"ח = 95$. 

בשנים האחרונות ארה"ב העלתה את אגרת הויתור ב-422%, והיא עומדת כיום על פי 20 מהמחיר הממוצע לאגרה זו במדינות המפותחות. 

אנו קוראים לפיקוח בינלאומי על אגרות בינלאומיות, או לפחות על התערבות ישראלית לפיקוח על אגרה זו בישראל.

We, citizens of Israel with dual Israeli-American citizenship, call upon the government of the United States of America to enable all people whether rich or poor, the basic right to renounce their US citizenship .

The current fee for renouncing citizenship is $2350.

This does not include the costs incurred due to the ancillary required activities performed by accountants.

The median income in Israel today is about $2300.

It isn't reasonable that citizens earning 8000 NIS per month are forced to pay more than an entire month’s salary in order to complete a procedure that cannot possibly cost the USA an amount even close to that.

 The cost of renouncing Israeli citizenship for matter of comparison is $95.

In recent years the USA has raised the fee of renouncing citizenship by 422%. This fee is 20 times the average fee in other developed nations.

We call for international supervision on international fees, or at the least - Israeli supervision of these fees in Israel.
