אל תסכן את המדינה עבורי!

לכבוד ממשלת ישראל:

במקרה שאויב חס ושלום יקח אותי בשבי, אנחנו, החתומים מטה, מבקשים מכם ודורשים שלא תסכנו את מדינת ישראל על ידי הסכם כלשהו שישחרר אסירים בטחונים, או שיסכן את חיי חיילינו, או שיפסיק לחימה אפילו לזמן קצר כך שהאויב יכול לאגור את כוחו.

חיינו לא קדושים יותר, ודמינו לא אדומים יותר, מחייהם ומדמיהם של שאר ישראל.

ייתכן שמשפחותינו יפנו אליכם בדרישה המנוגדת לדרישה שלנו.  אנחנו מבקשים ודורשים שאם יקרה מצב שכזה, תזכרו שהם מדברים מההרגשות שלהם, ושהרגשות אלו, ככל שהן מובנות, לא מהווים עילה להתעלם מהרצון שלנו.

To the Government of Israel:

In the event that an enemy takes me prisoner, we, the undersigned, request and demand that you not endanger the State of Israel through any agreement that would release security prisoners, or that would endanger the lives of our soldiers, or that would end fighting even for a short time so that the enemy could consolidate his strength.

Our lives are no more holy, and our blood is no redder, than the lives and blood of the rest of Israel.

It is possible that our families will contact you with a demand that is contrary to ours. We ask and demand that if such a situation occurs, that you remember that they are speaking from their emotions, and that these emotions, understandable as they may be, are not a reason to ignore our wishes.
