הצלת "עמק התכלת", צפת

עצומה הקוראת למניעת הריסת שמורת הטבע "עמק התכלת", האתר הגדול האחרון, הפתוח לציבור, בצפת. מתחם בריכת השחייה העירונית של צפת נמכרה לאחרונה לקבלן פרטי, אשר מתכנן לבנות במקומה ריכוז יחידות דיור בבניה רוויה. משמעות ההחלטה האומללה הזאת היא הריסת בריכת השחיה, הריסת משטחי הדשא, פגיעה בנוף הירוק והמקסים שלנו ומניעת הבילוי של אלפי ילדים ומשפחות תושבי המקום - מכל המגזרים. אין שום אתר אחר בצפת המאפשר בילוי, נופש ופעילות ספורטיבית מהנה כמו המקום היפהפה הזה וכדאי שנזכור כולנו כי צפת היא עיר ברוכת ילדים! אנו, החתומים מטה, מתנגדים להריסת שמורת הטבע "עמק התכלת" ולהפיכתה לשטח בנוי וצפוף במאות יחידות דיור. במקום תוכנית זו אנו דורשים שיקום בריכת השחיה והמתחם מסביבה, כדי שהדורות הבאים ימשיכו ליהנות מפנינה זו. This petition is a call to prevent the destruction of one of Safed's most beautiful assets, Emek HaTchelet. This site, cultivated and developed for over 3 generations, is the last large public open park in the city. It is the only site in Safed which offers recreation, entertainment and sports facilities to the entire population. The Emek Hatchelet municipal swimming pool and adjacent area have been sold to a private contractor who plans to build a high-density housing project in their place. The significance of this disastrous decision is the destruction of the swimming pool and of the greenery around it, damage to the wonderful environment in which we live and the denial of recreational facilities for thousands of children from all sectors of the population - Safed being a city which is blessed with many large families! We, the undersigned, oppose the destruction of the Emek HaTchelet site and its replacement by a housing development. We call for the rehabilitation of the swimming pool and adjacent area, so that future generations of Safed residents may continue to enjoy this pearl of nature.
