ישראלים מימין ומשמאל קוראים להקמת ממשלת אחדות ממלכתית

אנו, החתומים מטה, מאמינים כי השעה הנוכחית ותוצאות הבחירות מחייבות הקמת ממשלת אחדות לאומית.

אנו מודאגים מאוד מהעמקת השסעים בחברה הישראלית, אם ניאלץ ללכת לבחירות נוספות.

המרקם החברתי של ישראל נקרע בשנים האחרונות, ואויבינו ניצלו זאת ב־7 באוקטובר 2023, בתוצאות הרות אסון. המדינה והחברה הישראלית זקוקות לריפוי ולאיחוי השסעים.

לפיכך, אנו קוראים לנשיא מדינת ישראל להפעיל את מלוא סמכויותיו כדי לנסות ולגבש קואליציה העונה על הקריטריונים הבאים:

1. הקואליציה תורכב ממפלגות שבין השמאל הציוני המתון לימין הציוני המתון, ולא יכללו בה גורמים אנטי־ציוניים משמאל וגם לא כהניסטים מימין.

2. כל מפלגה בקואליציה תקבל את העיקרון שלפיו ישראל היא מדינה יהודית ודמוקרטית, ותתחייב לשוויון זכויות לכל אזרחיה, בהתאם למגילת העצמאות.

3. כל מפלגה בקואליציה תתחייב למטרות הבאות:

·       שירות צבאי או שירות לאומי לכל אזרחי ישראל

·       הקמת ועדת חקירה ממלכתית לבדיקת אירועי 7 באוקטובר

·       זניחת תוכניות הרפורמה המשפטית של הממשלה הקודמת במתכונתה הנוכחית והחלפתן במהלך חדש לחיזוק מוסדות המדינה בישראל, תוך הבטחת עצמאותה של מערכת המשפט וצמצום מעורבותה בהחלטות הממשלה, לצד יצירת מנגנוני איזון ופיקוח חלופיים על הממשלה, ובפרט באמצעות חיזוק הכנסת ועצמאותם של חברי הכנסת

·       התחייבות לטפל בנחישות בטרור המבוצע נגד אזרחי ישראל או על ידי אזרחי ישראל, ללא קשר לדתם או למוצאם האתני של המבצעים או של הקורבנות.

4. אם כל התנאים לעיל יתקיימו במלואם, תהיה הסכמה שהקואליציה תונהג על ידי יו"ר המפלגה הגדולה ביותר, בנימין נתניהו. הוא יתחייב לפרוש מתפקידו ולסיים את חייו הציבוריים לפני הבחירות הבאות.

בנוסף, בתנאי שיתקיימו התנאים לעיל  במלואם,  יפעיל הנשיא את סמכותו להעניק חנינה לנתניהו.  הסרת האיום של עונש מאסר, המרחף מעל ראשו של ראש הממשלה זה שבע שנים, תסיר גורם מרכזי לקיטוב הקיצוני שהביא להתחזקותם של גורמים קיצוניים בפוליטיקה הישראלית.

אנו, החתומים מטה, קוראים לנשיא המדינה, יצחק הרצוג, ומבקשים ממנו לפעול באופן מיידי לקידום מהלך זה.

Israelis from right to left call for mamlachti unity government

We, the undersigned, believe that this moment, and the results of this election, call for a government of national unity.

We are deeply concerned at the deepening of divisions in our country if we are forced to go to new elections.

Israel’s social fabric has been torn apart over recent years, and our enemies exploited this to catastrophic effect on October 7, 2023. The country and the society need healing.

We therefore call on the President of the State of Israel to use all the powers available to him to try to bring together a coalition that meets the following criteria:

It will be comprised of parties from the moderate Zionist left to the moderate Zionist right, excluding anti-Zionists on the left and Kahanists on the right. Every party in the coalition will accept the principle of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state, with a commitment to equal rights for its citizens in accordance with the Declaration of Independence. Every party in the coalition will commit to the following aims:

- military or national service for all citizens of Israel;

- a State Commission of Inquiry into Oct 7;

- the previous Government’s Judicial Reform plans will be abandoned and replaced by a new attempt to strengthen Israeli’s state institutions, securing the independence of the judiciary while reducing its involvement in government decisions, introducing alternative checks on the government, particularly through strengthening the Knesset and the independence of Knesset members;

- a commitment to dealing firmly with terrorism committed against or by Israeli citizens (regardless of the religion or ethnicity of the perpetrators or the victims).

4.                   If the above conditions are fully met, the coalition will be led by the leader of the largest party, Benjamin Netanyahu. He will commit to stepping down and retiring from public life before the next election.

In addition, if the conditions above are fully met, the President will exercise his power to pardon Netanyahu. By removing the threat of a prison sentence which has hung over the prime minister for the past seven years, the President will also be removing a key factor in the extreme polarization that has strengthened extremism in Israeli politics.

We, the undersigned, urge President Yitzhak Herzog to take immediate action in this regard.
